WAB 96 bis WAB add 334."From the hand of the eminent Austrian composer Anton Bruckner there is no systematic directory of his works; many are not mentioned in his own enumerations. A first attempt at a complete overview of the Oeuvre of Bruckner succeeded Renate Grasberger in 1974. Based on this directory, the "Digital Works Directory Anton Bruckner" has been available since 2019. In time for the Anton Bruckner anniversary year 2024 (200th birthday), the catalogue of works Anton Bruckner (WAB) now appears as a two-volume print. The two volumes contain all the work information (including the note incipits) of the digital version. In order not to cause confusion in the reference research literature, nor in data storage in library systems or in the music industry, the work numbers introduced and proven by Grasberger were predominantly retained. On this basis, a new system of works has been developed, which represents an extension to the categories of studies, edits, transcripts of works by other composers and falsa. The categories of sacred vocal music and secular vocal music remain, whereas the categories orchestral works - split into symphonies and other orchestral works - chamber music, wind music, piano pieces and organ works have been combined in the parent group instrumental music. Starting from the 149 works listed in the older catalogue of works, the new directory has been expanded to over 300 works, including autograph sketches, study materials, transcripts and edits.
