The mission of the International Association of Music Libraries, Archives and Documentation Centres (IAML) is to broaden access to music resources through international collaboration and advocacy, to support research, learning, performance and enjoyment. Our members open up the vast world of information and repertoire in their daily interactions with students, educators, researchers, musicians, and the general public. We work to promote and preserve musical heritage among diverse cultures as we recognise the importance of music in the lives of the world’s people.

The second death of George Enescu

Michael Fingerhut informed us:

According to Norman Lebrecht, the country house of George Enescu and his documents in the Enescu Museum in Bucharest are falling into dereliction (the house is even scheduled for demolition).
It is quite curious, since the museum appears to be included in the European Heritage List.

Quite sad indeed.

Great news from the Bibliothèque nationale

The Music Department of the Bibliothèque nationale de France has just incorporated the information from its old card catalogue (authors/composers/anonymous) into the online general catalogue http://catalogue.bnf.fr.

This covers holdings entered into the catalogues of the library from the sixteenth century through 1991, when the card catalogue was closed.

Update from Laurence Decobert:
