Pia Shekhter awarded Greta Renborgs Prize

President-Elect Pia Shekhter (Music and Drama Library, Gothenburg University) has been awarded the Greta Renborgs Prize of the Svensk biblioteksförening for promoting the right of all people to participate in musical life.

The jury notes in its citation:

Pia Shekhter, Biblioteket för musik och dramatik, Göteborgs universitetsbibliotek, tilldelas Greta Renborgs pris 2019 för sitt arbete med att lyfta alla människors demokratiska rätt till musikalisk delaktighet. I Greta Renborgs anda arbetar hon både över geografiska gränser och över folk- och forskningsbibliotekens gränser. I sin omvärldsbevakning reser hon ut i världen och tar även hem världen till Sverige. Pia Shekhters strategiska kamp och påverkansarbete för musiken och dess plats på biblioteken sker med samma glöd lokalt, nationellt och internationellt.

Pia Shekhter, Music and Drama Library, Gothenburg University Library, has been awarded the 2019 Greta Renborg Prize for her work in encouraging everyone's democratic right to musical participation. In Greta Renborg's spirit, she works both across geographical boundaries and across the boundaries of public and research libraries. She travels the world and also takes the world home to Sweden. Pia Shekhter's influence on music and its place in libraries can be felt locally, nationally and internationally.
