The 2019 conference of IAML Germany is taking place this week in Augsburg, a historical city known as the birthplace of Leopold Mozart and Bertholt Brecht, home to the prominent Fugger family, and location of a recently recognized UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Around 150 partipants from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland are gathering at the campus of the Universität Augsburg. This marks the second meeting of IAML Germany in Augsburg, the first of which was in 1971, one year after the university was founded.
The conference includes presentations about Augsburg‘s rich musical history and current topics in music librarianship, with reports from IAML Germany’s sections on education, public libraries, music schools, AV materials, academic and research libraries, and radio and orchestra libraries. Library visits, workshops, concerts, and a tour through an exhibit called “Mozart’s Fashion Worlds” round off the program.
In the AV-Kommission’s session on Thursday, Petra Wagenknecht (Universität der Künste Berlin) and Stefan Domes (Städtische Bibliotheken Dresden) were recognized for their long-time service to the Kommission since its foundation in 1994 and everyone wished them well for their upcoming retirements.
