The annual conference of the Music Library Association (USA) was held 2-5 March 2016 in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. Benjamin Knysak of RIPM reflects on his experience.

As an “R” project representative and IAML member it is always a pleasure and honor to attend the annual MLA conference and to interact with so many devoted music librarians. This year’s conference was held in Cincinnati, Ohio, a city at the crossroads of the East Coast and Midwest and of the North and the South.

IAML Honorary Member John H. Roberts (University of California, Berkeley) has discovered that a manuscript in the private collection of Dutch harpsichordist and conductor Ton Koopman is a previously unknown cantata by George Frideric Handel.

Following the decision of UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova, Katowice has been designated a UNESCO Creative City of Music. The title is awarded by UNESCO and is an honor. Membership in this prestigious Creative Cities Network allows, among other things, cooperation between cities in organizing joint ventures or plans for long-term urban development strategies in a particular field of art.

More than 100 patrons of all ages attended a performance by the Lincoln Ukulele Group in December 2015 that kicked off a pilot project of ukuleles for the public to borrow from Lincoln City Libraries, Lincoln, Nebraska, USA.
