<p>Female <em>klapa</em> (T.N. group) multipart singing is a relatively new form of Croatian musical tradition of <em>a cappella</em> singing based on the folklore music expression of urban and suburban inhabitants in Dalmatia. <em>Klapa</em> mulitpart singing performed by male singers has been established as a traditional socio-musical phenomenon. Female klapa singing has been relatively neglected in terms of profession, while simultaneously presented in the public as an imitation and a musical phenomemon of inferior significance.</p>
