Križevci, musicians etnographyZusammenfassung:

This book is based on research into the diverse musical worlds of the Križevci region and the role of local musicians in local social life. She invites you to listen to the musical past and present of Križevci and its surroundings, reminding us that a city is not only made up of its visual landscape, but also its sound. The research that preceded the writing of the book was a type of so-called ethnography of the "close" field in which "the boundaries between field and home, between professional and personal are erased" (Čapo Žmegač et al. 2006: 23), but regardless of my professional and private affiliation some local music worlds, I tried to listen to those that I was not personally connected to.

At the time of writing this book, much that was still relevant during the research has become history, changed or irretrievably disappeared.
Some people who shared with me their experiences and fragments of their own memories of the roles they played in the construction of local social and musical life also left irretrievably. In the three years that have passed since the end of the field research and the completion of this book, a "new time" has come in a very obvious and unexpectedly dramatic way. Aware of the consequences that new social crises can have on the field of music, culture and social life in general, I hope that this book will remain as a kind of pledge for the future. If nothing else, I hope that this text evokes the sensitive dynamics of local social life that grows out of the immediate needs of the community, is realized in collaborations and with the great effort of various organizational actors, while local musicians as individuals and the driving force of society form its connective tissue.
