The paper is based on accounts of two Croatian 16th-century authors who spent parts of their lives in close contact with Ottoman culture and dedicated several of their works to themes related to Turkish-Ottoman culture. Feliks Petančić (Felix Petantius; 1455? - 1517?), a diplomat, writer and miniaturist, visited the Ottoman Empire several times and took active participation in various military and diplomatic missions. The other author, writer Bartol Đurđević/Jurjević (Bartolomaeus Georgievits; 1506? - 1566?), spent 13 years in Turkish capti¬vity. Both authors dealt with various segments of Ottoman-Turkish culture and gave accounts on the role of music in Islamic ceremonial festivities.
