The mission of the International Association of Music Libraries, Archives and Documentation Centres (IAML) is to broaden access to music resources through international collaboration and advocacy, to support research, learning, performance and enjoyment. Our members open up the vast world of information and repertoire in their daily interactions with students, educators, researchers, musicians, and the general public. We work to promote and preserve musical heritage among diverse cultures as we recognise the importance of music in the lives of the world’s people.

A WDR Notenarchiv Double Feature

Mari Itoh (Aichi Shukutoku University), of IAML Japan and the Japanese corresponding editor for Fontes, was recently a visiting researcher at the Hochschule der Medien in Stuttgart and paid a visit to the WDR Notenarchiv in Cologne--the music archive of the West German Broadcasting Corporation. Here is a summary of her brief stay, followed by a summary of the visit in German by Katharina Jerusalem (WDR intern).

Survey results from 2016 Rome Congress now online

For several years the Board has sought to collect detailed feedback about our annual congresses from all participants. At our recent mid-year meeting we discussed the results of the survey taken after the 2016 Rome congress as well as the brief summary I prepared to facilitate the analysis and interpretation of these results. Since both documents are of potential interest to the entire membership, we are now publishing them on the website of the Rome congress: there you will find all the numeric results (also in the form of diagrams) as well as the abovementioned summary. (Note that the latter in part also relies on the comments made by the participants, some of which are too subjective or personal to be published here.)
