The mission of the International Association of Music Libraries, Archives and Documentation Centres (IAML) is to broaden access to music resources through international collaboration and advocacy, to support research, learning, performance and enjoyment. Our members open up the vast world of information and repertoire in their daily interactions with students, educators, researchers, musicians, and the general public. We work to promote and preserve musical heritage among diverse cultures as we recognise the importance of music in the lives of the world’s people.

Linked Irish Traditional Music Resources Available at ITMA

The Linked Irish Traditional Music (LITMUS) project at the Irish Traditional Music Archive (ITMA) produced innovative linked data tools to enable wider access to traditional music and dance. Led by ITMA Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow Dr Lynnsey Weissenberger, the LITMUS project was an ambitious, 2-year undertaking to take Irish traditional music and dance into the cultural heritage linked data landscape. It focused on the development of the first ontology for Irish traditional music and dance, now available at itma.ie/litmus.

IAML's Shekhter Attends Associations World Congress & Expo

An account of the Associations World Congress & Expo by Pia Shekhter, attending on behalf of IAML in place of Secretary General, Anders Cato.

A few weeks ago, 7-9 April to be precise, I attended the Associations World Congress & Expo as a stand-in for our Secretary General, Anders Cato. It was the 28th congress in a series arranged by the Association of Associations Executives, which this year conveniently took place in my hometown Gothenburg. A full congress pass amounted to £695, but IAML was graciously invited at no charge.
