The mission of the International Association of Music Libraries, Archives and Documentation Centres (IAML) is to broaden access to music resources through international collaboration and advocacy, to support research, learning, performance and enjoyment. Our members open up the vast world of information and repertoire in their daily interactions with students, educators, researchers, musicians, and the general public. We work to promote and preserve musical heritage among diverse cultures as we recognise the importance of music in the lives of the world’s people. |
The call for papers and posters for the IAML Congress 2024, to be held at Stellenbosch University, South Africa (23-28 June), is now open. The deadline is 10 December 2023.
Ik was een paar dagen op een internationaal congres van muziekbibliothecarissen in Cambridge, UK, oftewel samen met 349 andere muziekbibliothecarissen van openbare bibliotheken, universiteitsbibliotheken, orkesten, omroepen, conservatoria, muziekonderzoekscentra etc. etc. van over de hele wereld.
Van 30 juli tot 5 augustus vond weer het jaarlijkse IAML-congres plaats, ditmaal in Cambridge in het Verenigd Koninkrijk. Ruim 300 professionals uit de muziekbibliotheek- en -archiefwereld verzamelden zich in de traditierijke universiteitsstad voor een week vol nieuwe inzichten, inspiratie, kennisdeling, cultuur snuiven, verbinding en verbroedering. De Nederlandstalige delegatie (Nederland en Vlaanderen) bestond uit een kleine 20 congresgangers, van wie de meerderheid heel de week bleef.
What was it like? Busy! Long days starting at around 8, and routinely finishing after 10 or later. Throughout the week, we hosted just over 310 delegates, of whom 210 were there for the whole week, others were there for social events, or stayed for a day or longer.
The IAML Publications Awards Subcommittee, at the 2023 Congress in Cambridge, announced the recipients of the Vladimir Fédorov Award for the best article and the François Lesure Award for the best review published in volume 69 (2022) of Fontes Artis Musicae.
