The mission of the International Association of Music Libraries, Archives and Documentation Centres (IAML) is to broaden access to music resources through international collaboration and advocacy, to support research, learning, performance and enjoyment. Our members open up the vast world of information and repertoire in their daily interactions with students, educators, researchers, musicians, and the general public. We work to promote and preserve musical heritage among diverse cultures as we recognise the importance of music in the lives of the world’s people.

Be Inspired by the European Agenda for Music

Cooperation with international organizations is among IAML’s main objectives. In recent months, cooperation with the European Music Council (EMC), regional group of the International Music Council (IMC), has become particularly important. Pia Shekhter, IAML Secretary General, has just reported on her participation at the European Forum on Music 2018, 7-10 June in Oslo.

IAML Secretary General, Pia Shekhter, represented IAML at the European Forum on Music, 7-10 June, in Oslo. The theme of the conference was "Looking Back - Looking Forward. The Future of Europe's Musical Roots". She seized the opportunity to declare to the Forum that "Music libraries, archives and documentation centres play an indispensable role when it comes to secure "the future of Europe’s musical roots".

The Secretary General's study visits to Munich. Part 3 - EMC Staff Exchange Programme

In April I had the privilege of participating in a week-long Staff Exchange Programme with the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München, supported by the European Music Council. The EMC is one of the International Music Council's four regional councils, and IAML is a member.

Please, find a short video presentation on IAML's own YouTube channel. The video is part of my report to EMC and will be shown at the European Forum on Music 2018, in Oslo 7-10 June.
