The mission of the International Association of Music Libraries, Archives and Documentation Centres (IAML) is to broaden access to music resources through international collaboration and advocacy, to support research, learning, performance and enjoyment. Our members open up the vast world of information and repertoire in their daily interactions with students, educators, researchers, musicians, and the general public. We work to promote and preserve musical heritage among diverse cultures as we recognise the importance of music in the lives of the world’s people.

Pia Shekter speaks at the Opening SessionAn international conference was held 7-9 October 2022 acknowledging the 70th anniversary of RISM (Répertoire International des Sources Musicales). It was a great honour for me to extend IAML’s warm congratulations in a short speech at the opening session. As the President of IAML, I am very proud of the fact that our Association was one of the two founders of the RISM project in 1952, together with the International Musicological Society (IMS).

I had the great privilege to participate in the 21st Quinquennial Congress of the International Musicological Society (IMS), which was held in Athens 22 to 26 of August, under the auspices of the Departments of Music Studies of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. It was hosted by the Hellenic Musicological Society.
