The mission of the International Association of Music Libraries, Archives and Documentation Centres (IAML) is to broaden access to music resources through international collaboration and advocacy, to support research, learning, performance and enjoyment. Our members open up the vast world of information and repertoire in their daily interactions with students, educators, researchers, musicians, and the general public. We work to promote and preserve musical heritage among diverse cultures as we recognise the importance of music in the lives of the world’s people.

It is my great pleasure to let you all know that it is the 60th anniversary of IAML(UK & Irl)! Many congratulations to all members of this excellent IAML branch.

IAML(UK & Irl) has forged ahead on innovative and productive paths on so many levels, including the creation of its active multi-national branch. The many projects and resources the branch has developed are inspiring indeed.

Prestigious award to IAML's Past-President, Roger Flury

Roger Flury’s book, Giacomo Puccini: A Discography (Scarecrow Press), has won the 2013 Association for Recorded Sound Collections Award for Excellence in Historical Recorded Sound Research in Classical Music - Discography. The goal of the ARSC Awards Program is to recognize and draw attention to the finest work now being published in the field of recorded sound research.

Archiv Frau und Musik threatened with closure

From the AIBM-L, the mailing list of the German IAML branch, we have learned that the Archiv Frau und Musik is facing a drastic cut in funding that would threaten the future of this valuable archive.

The Archiv Frau und Musik, located in Frankfurt, Germany, is an important research center and the only one of its kind worldwide. It has been receiving funding from the City of Frankfurt, but this support is slated to be cut beginning in 2014. There is an online petition to show your support for the archive's work:
