New IAML Committee: Advocacy Committee

IAML has established a new Advocacy Committee which Pam Thompson has agreed to chair. Please read on for information on how to apply (from IAML-L):

At a time when music collections face increasing challenges, advocacy for our profession and for music itself is vital. The Committee’s full terms of reference can be found on the Advocacy Committee's website.

We would like the committee to begin work as soon as possible, so welcome expressions of interest from those who would like to join.  The Committee will be small (with a maximum of 8 members) with a solid commitment for 3 years in the first instance. We expect its work to take place steadily throughout the year, electronically, with an annual meeting at the conference for those who can attend. If you feel that you have the relevant experience, interest or enthusiasm to join the Committee, please send your expression of interest and details of appropriate experience to me (Advocacy@iaml.info or PThomp1059@aol.com) as soon as possible, at the latest by 23 May 2014. The Board and I will then select committee members.

We are confident that many members will be interested in applying and would like to ensure a balance from  a good range of countries. We do trust that anyone not selected will opt to work  for the Association in other ways or consider re-applying in three years time.  The Committee will in any case need support and contributions from as many members as possible if it is to fulfil its aims, as different countries have different priorities and different organisational structures. Ideas and suggestions will be welcomed from everyone.
