<p>It is a contemporary monograph about the prominent theater career and tragic fate of the most famous Croatian Holocaust victim Lee Deutsch (1927-1943), which is intended for professional and general audiences, especially young people.<br /><br />The book not only tells the story of a Holocaust victim, but also provides an overview of the theatrical successes of an exceptional young actress and her artistic environment, offers an account of the struggle for survival in inhumane times, describes bureaucrats and criminals loyal to the system, but also describes the gestures of people who showed civil courage and opposed the Ustasha regime.<br /><br />It is a valuable, detailed and reliable historiographical summation of the short but rich theatrical achievements of the life of the youngest member of the Croatian National Theatre, Lee Deutsch.<br /><br />The book is illustrated with rare photos of the "youngest daughter of Talia" from the interwar press as well as archival documents from several Croatian archives (Croatian State Archives, NSK Graphic Collection, HAZU Department of Croatian Theater History) as well as archives in Jerusalem (Yad Vashem Archives and Central Zionist Archives). ).<br /><br />This small book by historian Martina Bitunjac will undoubtedly have enormous cultural significance for the relevant interpretation of the Holocaust in the Croatian context today, as well as in the immediate future.<br /><br />The Croatian edition is a translation of the book "Lea Deutsch.
