Serious work has begun in the Russian State Library in Moscow on the creation of an electronic catalogue of scores (reported by Vyacheslav Rozhnovsky)
The Library of the St. Petersburg Conservatoire is participating in a cooperative project with the city=s university libraries to produce an online catalogue of books issued by institutions of higher education.
At the request of the conductor Valerii Gergiev, the Director of the U.S. Library of Congress has visited the Library of the Maryinsky Theatre with the aim of providing advisory (and perhaps other) help in the future.
The Moscow Conservatoire Library will hold a further conference on music archives from 7 -12 April 2000. Anyone interested in participating should contact Emilia Rassina.
The Russian National Library in St. Petersburg celebrated the anniversary of the setting-up of the music department in December 2000. Many congratulations to them!
