Brief job description.
The Secretary General (SG) is responsible for running the day-to-day business of the Association in cooperation with the President. The SG organises the professional programme of the annual IAML conferences and must be prepared to give advice and help to conference organising committees on matters ranging from the social programme to the size of meeting rooms.
The SG takes the minutes for the Board and Council meetings, and the General Assembly, and prepares a triennial report which is presented at the General Assembly.
The SG is responsible for administering the IAML Board elections every three years. The SG regularly answers questions relating to IAML activities.
The position is extremely important in IAML, and the job can be time consuming, but very rewarding. The successful candidate will have proven managerial skills, patience, a good sense of humour, and, above all, a true interest in IAML and its programmes and directives. The SG must have a working knowledge of IAML's three official languages (English, French and German), and must be fluent in at least one of these.
The SG receives an annual honorarium of DM3500. When necessary, the SG is reimbursed for travel to board meetings and annual conferences, and for office expenses.
