JOACHIM JAENECKE

Joachim Jaenecke is a musicologist and librarian, and has worked in the Musikabteilung of the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin since 1974, and since 1998 has worked for the Director General. He has been a member of IAML since 1976, and a regular attendee of IAML conferences.

Within IAML, he has been a Vice-President since 1995, and has held the position of Secretary of the Bibliography Commission 1981-1984, and Chair, 1984-1990. He was Secretary of the Working Group on Hofmeister XIX 1988-1991, and has been on the editorial Board of Documenta Musicologica, and Chair from 1995-1997. He has been a member of the working groups on Hofmeister XIX, Musical Archives, Publications and Copyright Committees, and the ISMN Advisory Board.

He has been President of the German branch of IAML 1988-1994, and Secretary 1994-2000, Chair of the Working Group on Music Departments in research Libraries, 1988-1997, and Chair of the Organising Committee for the IAML Congress in Frankfurt am Main, 1992. He has been a member of the Advisory Board of the Music Information Centre at the German Music Council since 1997, and Chair of the ISMN Subdivision of the German Standards Organisation since 1990.

JON BAGÜÉS ERRIONDO

Jon Bagüés Erriondo is the Director of ERESBIL, the Basque Composers Archives. In1985 he founded the early music group "Capilla Peñaflorida"

He graduated in the History of Art in 1977, and received his doctorate 1990 from the University of Barcelona. He studied of Archives and Documentation in Madrid (1982-83). He has written two monographs and some articles. He was the first president of the Asociación Española de Documentación Musical (AEDOM), the Spanish branch of IAML. In 1998 he was the coordinator of the IAML congress in San Sebastian.

Er absolvierte 1982 bis 1983 das Studium der Archiv- und Dokumentationswissenschaften in Madrid. Er ist Autor von zwei Monographien und verschiedenen Artikeln. Er ist der erste Vorsitzende der "Asociación Española de Documentación Musical", dem spanischen Zweig der IVMB, gewesen. 1998 war er Leiter der IVMB-Tagung in San Sebastian.

INGER ENQUIST

Inger Enquist is archivist at the Music Library of Sweden in Stockholm, where she works with archives and documentation, dealing in particular with the archives register and service to the scholars. Earlier she was also involved in Swedish music iconographical work. She is Vice-Chair of the Swedish IAML-branch .

In IAML she has been specially involved in archives matters from 1986 onwards, starting as secretary to the Working Group on Archives. She was later secretary and vice president in the Archives Commission, continued as president of the Archives and Music Documentation Centres Branch 1993-1999, and since 2000, secretary of the Working Group on the Registration of Music Archives.

She is also the IAML archivist and the IAML representative in our contacts with the International Council on Archives.

 Inger Enquist est archiviste au Statens Musikbibliotek à Stockholm, où elle travaille dans les archives et la documentation, plus particulierement avec le registre d'archives et le service aux savants. Inger Enquist ist Archivarin an der Musikbibliothek von Schweden in Stockholm, wo sie im Bereich der Archivmaterialien und der Dokumentation, insbesondere der Archivregister und Recherchenservice arbeitet. Inger hält auch die Stellung der IVMB Archivarin inne und ist die IVMB Vertreterin in Kontakt mit dem International Council on Archives.

ROGER FLURY

Roger Flury has been Senior Librarian (music) at the National Library of New Zealand since 1988. Managing the international music collections, interloan and hire of music materials, and advanced reference service to clients. He has previously worked at the Westminster Central Music Library in London, England, and the Canterbury Public Library, Christchurch, New Zealand. He has been awarded the Associateship of the N.Z. Library Association for his work on behalf of music libraries.

He has been a member of the New Zealand Branch of IAML since 1980, twice holding the position of President (1987-90 and 1996-99), and chaired the Organising Committee for the 1999 IAML Conference in Wellington. He is currently the Branch Vice-President and N.Z. co-ordinator for RILM, and has created the Australasian Music-Libraries-L, a professional interest list.

He is artistic director of Academy Opera, a professional company, and has contributed programmes to Radio New Zealand’s Concert FM network, and reviews and articles for local and overseas journals and newspapers. He recently completed Pietro Mascagni: a bio-bibliography for Greenwood Press.

Roger ist künstlerischer Direktor der Academy Opera, einer hauptberuflichen Gruppe, und hat Radioprogramme für den Sender Radio New Zealand’s Concert FM, wie auch Rezensionen und Artikel für lokale und ausländische Fachzeitschriften und Zeitungen geschrieben.

AURIKA GERGELŽIU

Aura Gergeležiu graduated from the Tallinn Pedagogical University, Faculty of Librarianship and Bibliography in 1989 and has since then worked as a music librarian at the National Library of Estonia. Since 1998 she has been Chief Specialist of the Fine Arts Information Centre.

She is currently the President of the Estonian IAML Branch, and was Secretary from 1994-2000. She has served as Vice Chair of the IAML Research Libraries Branch (1996-1999) and is currently the Secretary of that Branch. She is also involved in the Estonian RILM work. She was organizer and Chair of the Local Arrangements Committee of the first Balto-Nordic Music Libraries Conference in Tallinn (1999).

She has given courses on music cataloguing and has organized study seminars for Estonian music librarians. She initiated the Estonian cataloguing rules for printed music and audiovisual material and was involved in the composition of the thesaurus of Estonian subject headings for music. She was also active in the TEMPUS Joint European Project "Development of Library Management in Art and Music Universities" (1996-1998).

 Aurika Gergeležiu a gradué de l' Université Pedagogical de Tallinn, Faculté de Bibliotheconomie et de la Bibliographie, en 1989 et a depuis travaillé comme un bibliothécaire de musique à la Bibliothèque Nationale d'Estonie. Depuis 1998 elle a été la Spécialiste Principale du Centre d'Information des beaux-arts.

Elle est actuellement Présidente de la Branche estonienne de IAML, et a été la Secrétaire de 1996-2000. Elle a servi de Vice-Présidente de la Branche professionnelle des bibliothèques de recherche de IAML (1996-1999) et est actuellement la secrétaire de cette branche. Elle est aussi été impliquée dans le travail de RILM estonien. Elle a été Présidente du Comité d'organisation de la première Conférence Balto-Nordic de Bibliothèques musicaux dans Tallinn (1999).

Elle a donné des cours sur le catalogage de musique et a organisé les séminaires d'études pour les bibliothécaires de musique estoniens. Elle a inauguré les règles de catalogage pour la musique imprimée et le materiels audiovisuels estoniens et a été impliquée dans la construction du thesaurus de vedettes-matières estonien pour la musique. Elle était aussi active dans le Projet collective européen TEMPUS "The Development of Library Management in Art and Music Universities" (1996-1998). 

Aurika Gergeležiu verließ 1989 die Fakultät der Bibliothekswissenschaften und Bibliographie der Pädagogischen Hochschule und hat seitdem, als Musikbibliothekarin an der Nationalbibliothek von Estland gearbeitet. Seit 1998 ist sie Hauptspezialistin des Kunstinformationszentrum.

Gegenwärtig ist Aurika Präsidentin des estnischen IVMB Zweigs, sie war Schriftführerin von 1994 bis 2000. Von 1996-1999 hat sie als Vizepräsidentin der IVMB Research Libraries Branch (1996-1999) gedient und ist zur Zeit Schriftführerin des Zweigs. Sie arbeitet auch am estnischen RILM mit.

1999 war sie Organisatorin und Vorsitzende des  örtlichen Organisationskomitee der ersten Baltisch-Nordischen Musikbibliothekskonferenz in Tallin 1999. Sie hat Kurse in Musikkatalogisierung geleitet und Studienseminare für estnische Musikbibliothekare organisiert. Sie iniziierte die estnischen Katalogisierungsregeln für Notendrucke und audio-visuelle Materialien und wirkte an der Entstehung des estnischen Schlagwortlexikons mit. Aurika war auch aktiv im TEMPUS Joint European Project "Development of Library Management in Art and Music Universities" (1996-1998).

DOMINIQUE HAUSFATER

Dominique Hausfater has just been named director of the Médiathèque Hector Berlioz du Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris. Previously, she was music curator at the Département de la Musique de la Bibliothèque nationale de France since 1990. Her main duties are a project for cataloguing different collections of 19^th century printed scores, assistant for acquiring rare material (antiquarian and public auctions), and the preparation of IAML international congress in Périgueux (July 2001).

Activities in IAML include positions as secretary to the Research Libraries Branch (1987-1992), the Bibliography Commission (1993-1995) and the Commission for Service and Training, since1996, and French correspondant for Fontes artis musicae since 1993. She has been treasurer, secretary, then president (since november 1995) of the IAML French Branch, director of publications , and chair of the Organizing Committee for the Périgueux congress (July 2001). Other activities: professor of music and dance history at James Madison University (Harrisonburg, Virginia) in their international Paris program since 1985 (course taught in English), training courses in different programs since 1990, and an elected member of the Council of the Société française de musicologie since June 2000.

Publications include La médiathèque musicale publique, 1991; Répertoire des bibliothèques musicales françaises, to be published in 2001, and musicological and professional training articles in various books and periodicals. She has a PhD. In musicology.

Profession exercée actuellement : Directrice de la Médiathèque Hector Berlioz du Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris. Précédement, elle était conservateur au département de la Musique de la BnF (depuis 1990), ou des principales fonctions etaient: responsable d’un projet de catalogage rétrospectif de différents fonds de musique imprimée du XIXe siècle, adjointe pour les acquisitions patrimoniales (antiquariat et ventes publiques), détachée actuellement sur la préparation du congrès international de l’AIBM (Périgueux 2001).

Responsabilités au sein de l’AIBM : Internationales : secrétaire successivement de la Branche des bibliothèques de recherche (1987-1992), de la Commission de bibliographie (1993-1995) et de la Commission de formation professionnelle (depuis 1996) ; correspondante française de Fontes artis musicae (depuis 1993).

Nationales : trésorière, secrétaire, puis présidente (depuis novembre 1995) du Groupe français et responsable des publications ; présidente du comité d’organisation du congrès de Périgueux (juillet 2001).

RUTH HELLEN

Ruth Hellen has worked in public music libraries for many years and was appointed as Audio Visual Librarian for the London Borough of Enfield in 1989. She is now Library Resources Unit Manager, so has a wider management role which includes general acquisitions and bibliographical services, but still has overall responsibility for the provision of printed music and sound recordings.

She was elected President of IAML(UK) in 1998 and has represented the Branch both within the library profession and in the wider musical arena. She first became involved with IAML(UK) as Conference Secretary, then became Press and PR Officer until taking up the Presidency. During this time she has tried to promote the value of music libraries in an increasingly generalist profession and has been involved in several campaigns in support of threatened services. One of her other concerns is training and she gives presentations at regular music courses for library staff.

Since becoming IAML(UK) President-elect, she has attended four international IAML conferences and was heavily involved in the organisation of the Edinburgh conference. She is currently Project Director of Encore! (the national database of performance sets); this project illustrates the welcome increase in co-operation between music libraries in different sectors (public, national, academic), and believes it is vital to work together to develop this trend if music libraries are to continue to serve the needs of musicians and music lovers. IAML provides an ideal framework for this and she looks forward to continuing co-operation across national and sectoral boundaries.

Elle est premièrement devenue impliquée avec IAML-UK comme la Secrétaire de Conférence, elle est devenu ensuite l'Agente de publicité et relations publiques, jusqu'à ce qu'elle obtienne la Présidence. Pendant ce temps elle a essayé de promouvoir la valeur de bibliothèques de musique dans une profession qui deviens de plus en plus généraliste et a été impliqué dans plusieurs campagnes pour soutenir les services menacés. Un eautre de ses préoccupations concerne l'éducation, et elle donne des présentations aux cours réguliers pour le personnel de bibliothèques musicales.

Depuis qu'elle est la Présidente-élue de IAML-UK, elle a assisté à quatre conférences de IAML et a été beaucoup impliquée dans l'organisation de la conférence de Edimbourg. Elle est actuellement la Directrice de Projet de Encore! (La base de données nationale de séries d'exécution); ce projet illustre l'augmentation d'accueil dans la coopération entre les bibliothèques de musiques dans les secteurs différents (public, national, académique), et croit qu'il est vital de travailler ensemble à développer cette tendance si ces bibliothèques de musiques désire continuer à servir les besoins des musiciens et des amateurs de musique. IAML fournit une structure idéale pour ceci et elle regarde en avant pour continuer la coopération à travers les limites nationale et sectorale.

Ruth Hellen arbeitet seit vielen Jahren in öffentlichen Musikbibliotheken und wurde 1989 zur Biblothekarin für audiovisuellen Medien des Londoner Stadtbezirks von Enfield ernannt. Zur Zeit ist sie Bibliotheksresourcenmanager und hält so eine weiter reichende Managerstelle inne, die allgemeine Erwerbung und bibliographische Dienste einschließt. Ruth hat jedoch noch immer übergeordnete Verantwortung für die Dienste von Notendrucken und Tonaufnahmen.

1998 erfolgte Ruths Wahl zur Präsidentin von IAML(UK), sie hat auch den Zweig in musikbibliothekarischen Bereich und in der Musikbranche vertreten. Ruths erstes IAML(UK) Amt war das der Konferenzschriftführerin. Darauf folgte ein Amt im Bereich Presse-und Public Relations bis sie ihre Präsidentschaft antrat. Während dieser Zeit hat Ruth versucht, den Wert von Musikbibliotheken in diesen Zeiten der steigenden Generalisierung im Bibliotheksbereich, zu fördern. Sie war an verschiedenen Initiativen zur Rettung bedrohter Bibliotheksdienste beteiligt. Ruths besonderes Interesse gilt der Aus-und Fortbildung und sie hat Referate in regelmäßigen Kursen für Bibliotheksangestellte gehalten.

Seit ihrer Wahl zur Präsidentin von IAML(UK) hat Ruth vier internationale IVMB Tagungen besucht und war sehr an der Organisation der Edinburgher Tagung beteiligt., Ruth ist zur Zeit Direktorin des Encore! Projekts (die nationale Datenbank von Auführungsmaterialien). Dieses Projekt zeigt die willkommene Zuhnahme an Kooperation zwischen Musikbibliotheken verschiedener Bereiche (öffentlich, national, wissenschaftlich) auf. Ruth glaubt, daß es wichtig ist, zusammenzuarbeiten, um diesen Trend weiterzuentwickeln wenn Musikbibliotheken weiterhin den Bedürfnissen von Musikern und Musikliebhabern gerecht zu werden. IVMB stellt einen idealen Rahmen dafür dar und Ruth sieht erwartungsvoll weiterer Zusammenarbeit über nationalen und typspezifischen Grenzen entgegen.

FEDERICA RIVA

Federica Riva has been music librarian of the Conservatorio di musica 'A. Boito' (Parma) since 1994, working in the Sezione musicale della Biblioteca Palatina and in charge of the Museo storico and the Fonoteca of the Conservatory as well. Previously she was music librarian in the Conservatories of Campobasso (1990-92) and Palermo (1992-94). She is Chair of the Libraries in Music Teaching Institutions Branch if IAML 1997-2002. In co-operation with officers of the branch an international survey 'Network and access to music collection in Music Libraries of Teaching Institutions' was organized and is now accessible in the IAML web page.

She was a member of the organizing committee of the IAML annual Conference held in Perugia in 1996, and contributed to the volume of Fontes artis musicae (43/1) devoted to Italy. Cofounder of the Italian national branch of IAML in 1994, she has held the position of treasurer until 2000. Her main activities in the national branch has been the organization of annual IAML-Italia meetings, the organization of music cataloguing courses, and improving contacts between IAML-Italia and AIB (Italian association of librarians).

Starting as cataloguer for the Italian national music database (SBN-musica) in 1989-91, she was involved in the documentation of manuscript and printed music sources in Italian libraries at a national level by publishing annual reports on the state of research in the periodical Le fonti musicali in Italia (1991-94), where she acted also as member of the editorial board. She translated the revised edition of ISBD(PM) adding Italian examples, for the Italian edition published in 1993 by the national cataloguing institute (ICCU). More recent publications are concerned with the evolution and the comparison between the Italian national SBN-musica and RISM databases of manuscripts.

 Après avoir été bibliothécaire aux Conservatoires de Campobasso (1990-92) et Palermo (1992-94), depuis 1994 elle est bibliothécaire musical au Conservatoire de musique ‘A.Boito’ (Parma), travaillant à la Sezione musicale della Biblioteca Palatina, et elle a en même temps en charge le poste de responsable du Museo storico et le Fonoteca. Chef de la branche professionnelle des bibliothèques dans les institutions d’instruction musicale pour 1997-99, elle a été réélue pour un second mandat de trois ans. En coopération avec les autre membres du bureau de la branche on a préparé un questionnaire ‘Réseaux et accès aux collections musicales dans les institutions d’instruction musicale’ qui est maintenant disponible dans le site de l’AIBM.

Membre du comité organisateur du congrès annuel de l’AIBM de Perugia en 1996, elle a contribué au volume de Fontes artis musicae (43/1) dédié à l’Italie avec la bibliographie Reference Works on Music Published in Italy 1985-1995.

Cofondatrice de la branche nationale italienne de l’AIBM en 1994, elle a été trésorier jusqu'a 2000. Ses principales activités dans la branche nationale ont été l’organisation des congrès annuels, l’organisation de cours de catalogage, la promotion de liens constants entre la IAML-Italia et l’AIB (association italiennes des bibliothécaires). Après avoir commencé le travail de catalogueur pour la base de données musicale italienne (SBN-musica) en 1989-91, elle a été de plus en plus impliquée dans la documentation des sources musicales imprimées et manuscrites dans les bibliothèques italiennes, en publiant reports annuels sur l’état de la recherche sur le périodique Le fonti musicali in Italia (1991-94), pour le quel elle était membre du bureau de rédaction. Elle a traduit la deuxième édition de l’ISBD(PM), en ajoutant exemples italiens, pour l’édition italienne publiée en 1993 par l’institut central de catalogage (ICCU). Frederica war Mitglied des Organisationskomitees der jährlichen IVMB Konferenz in Perugia von 1996, und trug zur Italien-Ausgabe von Fontes artis musicae (43/1) bei. Als Gründungsmitglied der italienischen nationalen Zweigs von IVMB im Jahre 1994 heilt sie bis in das Jahr 2000 das Amt der Schatzmeisterin inne. Ihre Hauptaktivitäten im italienischen Zeig waren die Organisation der jährlichen italienischen Konferenzen, die Organisation von Notenkatalogisierungskursen und die Verbesserung der Kontakte zwischen IVMB-Italia und AIB (Italienische Bibliothekarsvereinigung).

Nach einem Beginn als Katalogisiererin für die italienische nationale Musikdatenbank (SBN-musica) in den Jahren 1989-91wirkte sie auf nationaler Ebene bei der Dokumentation von Manuskript und Musikdruckquellen in italienischen Bibliotheken mit, indem sie die Jahresberichte h ber den Forschungsstand in der Zeitschrift Le fonti musicali in Italia (1991-94) veröffentlichte. Sie war auch Redaktionsmitglied dieser Zeitschrift. Für die 1993 vom nationalen Katalogisierungsinstitut (ICCU) veröffentlichte italienische Ausgabe übersetzte Frederica die revidierte Ausgabe von ISBD(PM) und versah sie mit italienischen Beispielen. KIRSTEN VOSS-ELIASSON

 Kirsten Voss-Eliasson has been a Public Music Librarian since 1967, and in charge of the Herlev Music Library from 1967-1999. She has been president of the Danish IAML Branch since 1989, and was Chair of the Organizing Committee for the IAML conference held in Helsingør in 1995. She has been Chair of the IAML Public Libraries Branch since 1996 and a Vice President of IAML since 1998. She is Editor of the Danish Music Library Journal MUSIKBIB, which was started in 2000, and is deeply involved in developing better access to music in libraries all over the world, especially in all public libraries.  

Kirsten Voss-Eliasson a été une bibliothécaire de musique publique depuis 1967, et administrateur de la Bibliothèque de musique de Herlev de 1967-1999. Elle a été la présidente de la Branche danoise de IAML depuis 1989, et était la Présidente du Comité d'organisation pour le congrès de IAML tenue dans Helsingør en 1995. Ellea été la Présidente du Branche professionelle des bibliothèques publiques de IAMLdepuis 1996 et Vice-président de IAML depuis 1998. Elle est l'éditeur du Journal de bibliothèques musicaux danois MUSIKBIB, qui a debuté sa publication en 2000, et est impliquée profondément dans le développement d'un meilleur accès à la musique dansles bibliothèques dans tout le monde, surtout dans toutes bibliothèques publiques.

Kirsten Voss-Eliasson ist seit 1967 Musikbibliothekarin an öffentlichen Biblotheken und leitete die Herlev Musikbibliothek von 1967-1999. Sie ist Präsidentin des dänischen IVMB Zweigs seit 1989 und war Vorsitzende des Organisationskomitees der IVMB Tagung in Helsingør im Jahre 1995. Seit 1996 ist sie Vorsitzende des IVMB Zweigs der  öffentlichen Biblotheken und Vizepräsidentin von IVMB seit 1998. Kirsten ist Herausgeberin der dänischen Musikbibliotheksfachzeitschrift MUSIKBIB, die im Jahr 200 begann, und ist stark an Entwicklungen von verbessertem Zugang zu Musik in Bibliotheken rund um die Welt, insbsondere in öffentlichen Bibliotheken, beteiligt.
